Burriscarra Ireland

In 1845, George Henry Moore had an impressive stable of race horses on the estate. During this time period, famine struck. He was quite concerned with the impact that the famine would have on his tenants. In 1846, he won the Chester Cup betting on Coranna winning 17,000 pounds. With his winnings, he ensured that no one died during the famine.
